The Story of the Shepherd Boy

In the heart of the mesmerizing rolling hills, resided a shepherd boy. His existence was essentially pure, simple yet virtuous. His main role was to care for his flock of sheep.

The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This game continued for a couple of more days. However, one day, a real wolf did come to prey the grazing sheep. The shepherd boy ran for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his sheep. Heartbroken, he went back to the village only to receive a scolding on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.

His tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the value of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the risks of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is hard to regain. It's a story as relevant today as it was in the past.
